Upgrading to WordPress 2.1

Tonight, I decided to upgrade my blog to the latest version of WordPress, version 2.1

You may have tried to access the blog while I had it down for the upgrade, and I apologize for that inconvenience. As it turns out, I am having to tweak a few things, so you may notice some changes, or things not working correctly around here for a day or two while I iron out the bugs.

If you see anything strange, please leave a comment here and let me know!

Until next time,

steve :)

I like the look of your blogsite Steve. Do you use code on your PC or online at wordpress. I tried wordpress but couldn’t figure how to get a custom look like yours.

  4. Hey, Bob, good to “see” you again! I’m not entirely sure I understand your question, but here’s an explanation that hopefully will help.

First of all, there are two different ways to use WordPress. One is to use the free wordpress.com hosting service. This service uses the WordPress application, but is quite a bit limited as to the customizations you can make. The other way to use WordPress is to host the WordPress application (from wordpress.org) on a webhost that you pay for.

The latter is my method. This means that I pay for hosting, but have the following advantages:

    1. My own domain name (theologicalmusingsblog.com as opposed to theologicalmusings.wordpress.com)
    2. Complete control over the files and database, including being able to install any plugin that I desire
    3. Ability to use any WordPress theme that’s available, or customize my own.

I have chosen to use the theme called MistyLook, which is an excellent theme, and then I have made some changes to it myself.

    Does that answer your question?

Thanks for the answer Steve. I was using the free version and couldn’t make it look the way that I wanted … now I know why :)
