he title of this post is completely tongue-in-cheek, by the way! Since I have gotten tagged several times for the same thing, I feel like I better finally get around to participating!
John Smulo started it (although he mercifully didn’t tag me). In the time since this particular tag thing started, I have gotten tagged several times, to the point that I don’t even remember who all tagged me.
I know for sure that Brother Maynard, Aussie John, and Brandon all tagged me, and I seem to think there were a couple of others, too, although I can’t find them at the moment.
At any rate, you have probably already seen people writing their posts on “5 Things I Dig about Jesus”. I’ve not been real crazy about the use of the word “dig”, but at any rate, I’ll take the time here to list five things that I appreciate and love about Jesus.
- He is my best friend. He demonstrated this by laying down his life for me. By his own words, there is no greater love than when someone lays down his life for his friends.
- He is my brother. By placing my trust in him, I have the right and privilege to be called a son of God. Because he is also a son of God, that makes us brothers!
- He showed me the Father. Not only did he show us the Father, but he made it possible for me to have a relationship with the Father.
- He showed me how to live a life that pleases the Father. By consistently doing only those things that the Father instructed him to do, he demonstrated a life of obedience. And now he empowers me to do the same thing.
- He took the penalty for my sin and the curse that went with it. Sin no longer has any power over me unless I let it have that power. But because of what Jesus did, I no longer have to yield to the power of sin.
I feel like there’s so much more that I could write, because these five things only scratch the surface. But I’ll let it go at those five for now.
Feel free to add more in the comments section.
Almost everybody I read has already been tagged, so it’s a stretch to find five people to tag. I will just give a stab at it here by tagging:
- David Wayne (JollyBlogger)
- Tomas Perez
- Raborn Johnson
- David Rogers
- Rose (Rose’s Reasonings)
Until next time,
steve
I’ve been told that its okay to give in peer pressure only if its to share things that you love and appreciate about Jesus
Enjoyed hearing your five. I feel the same way.
I’m glad that you shared. You’re right in that we can really only scratch the surface, but reading how and why people love Jesus makes me love Him more and more.
Excellent things to love about Christ. There are about five hundred more things that we could come up with!
Steve,
If we have to cave into peer pressure (and I did much earlier) then I suppose this topic is a good one to cave into. I agree that this only scratches the surface. It took me a week just to discuss my five things, and I still feel like there is so much more that I need to learn and live.

Glad you finally caved in!
It’s tough to pick just 5.
Blessings to you…
Brandon
Steve,
Amen! Amen!
I’m with you on the “dig” bit. I thought I was being affected by a cultural cringe of some sort, so I caved in to peer pressure. That other peer, Alan is such a corrupting influence.
How glad I am that I have “peers” on the other side of the world; I would rather call them brethren, and how amazing that we can communicate on that level, without age, race, societal status, etc., etc, staining that relationship.
All because of the Precious Friend and Brother of whom you wrote.
Aussie John,
I rejoice in the kinship I have with you and the others on this blog. The love of the Spirit of God, which we know through the wonder of Jesus, is always in your words. Blessings on you.

Aussie John,
I gladly accept the title “corrupting influence” when that corruption leads someone to think deeply about Jesus Christ!
We adopted brothers and sisters should stick together – and actually, we’re already stuck together by the Spirit – so, let’s live like it!
